Steve Osborne, MBA, CSPM, CPBA, CPVA, Trimetrix
Steve Osborne, armed with a degree in Electronic Engineering from Cal Poly, arrived in the business world just as computers were making their way onto every desktop. As a computer consultant, he worked with the construction clients of an accounting firm in Monterey. He moved on to become the Executive Administrator of that three office firm. To address the broad spectrum of needs of the firm, he pursued his MBA and an education in Human Resources Management over a five year stretch. As a result of his 10 years as Executive Administrator, he has a unique understanding of the inner workings of an accounting firm, its technology, client service issues, culture, and human capital management concerns.
Steve was instrumental in leading his firm toward the direction of developing a stronger business advisory practice. In 1995, he attended a Boot Camp Workshop with his partners and key managers. The workshop was focused on helping firms expand their skills and services beyond traditional compliance services. Edi McHenry (the Osborne part came three years later) was a key speaker at the workshop. They immediately struck up a professional relationship based on their shared passion for helping accounting firms create more value for their business clients.
The professional relationship between Steve and Edi evolved into a personal one. In 1996 Steve took his experience with the accounting profession in a new direction. He and Edi launched Mentor Plus and the first Consulting Accountants’ RoundTable in 1997. From the start, Steve and Edi have collaborated on the development of curriculum for their workshops. Steve’s background in Human Resources is a valuable compliment to Edi’s focus on performance management.
Steve has a deep understanding of, and practical experience working with, the dynamics of team building, conflict resolution, and people development. His education and certifications in the field of Behavioral Assessments provides a balanced perspective for the people side of any business. In addition to consulting directly with individuals and companies, he has passed that knowledge on to participants of the Consulting Accountants’ RoundTable and their teams. Presently, he is extensively involved in consulting on the Trimetrix Hiring and Coaching System.
Steve’s personal interests include European League Soccer, golfing, music, gardening, and cooking. He has a small vineyard and is in the early stages of making his own wine (for personal consumption, of course). Meantime, while the grape vines are maturing and the small vintages are brewing, he is an avid wine tester/taster.
Steve was born in Southampton, England and immigrated with his family to the Monterey Peninsula in 1962. He became and American citizen but if you listen hard enough, you might still hear a hint of an accent.
