What makes $COPE IT! a better option?

Posted By: Edi Osborne on 8/20/2009

When you sit down in your car, if it is a newer model, you have a button on the driver side door that allows you to pre-set your seat's slant and height, distance to the steering wheel, outside mirrors, etc. I am a bit shorter than my husband and I really appreciate being able to push "my button" on the door and feel myself come into perfect alignment for my driving experience. Likewise, Steve likes to push "his button" and have all his settings put him back in his comfort zone.

In short, that is why we are so excited about $COPE IT! (IT= Information Tool) For years we have made do with various analytical tools to support the efforts of our "client centric" accountants. Although there are some good tools out on the market none were a perfect fit and we kept having to "make adjustments." You know how awkward it is as you try to adjust your seat, mirrors, steering wheel, etc. and drive at the same time. Bottom line. . . you will likely get where you are going. The question is, will you enjoy the ride?

When presented with the opportunity to customize a piece of software that was an ideal fit with the Mentor Plus philosophy, we jumped at it. If you know anything about Mentor Plus then you know that we teach accountants how to identify, monitor, and help their clients manage a much broader spectrum of key performance indicators than what appears in financial statements.

We often refer to our KPI report as the 4th Statement. Rounding out the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Statement, with a leading indicator focused, non-financial driver oriented, dashboard brings the first three statements to life.

Our 4th Statement is organized around the $COPE business monitoring model that provides a formalized framework for business owners. By including a balance of kpis from the five key performance areas of a business, we are sure to avoid the lop-sided coaching that happens when trying to discern one's progress by looking only at financial outcomes. True insight is gained when we are able to help clients connect behaviors to outcomes.

Our Special Report; Feeding Your Firm's Starving Crowd explains in detail how and why we advocate the $COPE approach to address your client's most critical business issues.

We recognize our software may not be right for everyone and that's okay - we are not really in the software business, afterall. If we were, we would be charging more for the software. What we do know, is that for accountants with the Mentor Plus Mind Set and Skill Set, the software is a perfect addition to your Tool Set.

A word of caution . . . don't buy the software if you don't plan to tune up your softskills to go with it. We feel very strongly, that the only way you and your clients are going to get the full value out of the software program is if you have the consultative dialoging skills to go with it. Teaching you those skills is what we are all about. This is the knowledge your clients want you to have! $COPE IT! adds to your knowledge.

Remember . . .Your talent is the deliverable, not the software. The software just makes it easier for you to be at the top of your game in front of clients.
