What is Authentic Blogging?

Authentic Blogging is a coaching service that helps accountants create blog posts that actually get read.

Writing blog posts takes some getting used to for most accountants, because unlike the other ways in which they  communicate, blogging is informal. That's right, informal. Ideally, blogs contain non-technical information which is shared in a person’s conversational style. When you read a good blog post, you get the feeling you are having a conversation with the blogger.

The goal is to be true to yourself and to communicate in a natural way -- without following rigid rules of grammar or worrying too much about sentence structure, typos, or even punctuation. The ultimate goal is to reflect your personality while also sharing useful information. A blog post needs to be interesting and it needs to be written in your unique voice.

The secret of blogging is to write about something that you are passionate about. Few people have a burning passion to write (or read) about taxes. But you might write about taxes using lessons you have learned from gardening, boating, or even shopping. You want to be inspired to write, not facing each post with the enthusiasm you normally reserve for a trip to the dentist. Of course your posts should to relate to your business, but you need an interesting approach and a different story.

How can I help?

I can help you get started as a blog writer. I will show you how to connect your passion to business ideas. And because I have walked a mile in your penny loafers, I know most of the subjects you are immersed in - from XBRL to FASBs to Lifo inventory calculations. I guarantee that I can find a way to connect just about any topic to something interesting. Hey, I wrote a book on that subject.

How much does it cost?

I charge a flat fee and have a questionnaire and a process that I apply to each meeting.

Because blogging requires a commitment, I only offer my services when at least 2 people in a firm are willing to commit to the program. So the total investment for your firm to get going is $1,500 payable in advance. (That's $750 per person.) Contact geni@mentorplus.com for more information.
