The Mentor Plus® CSPM designation makes a statement about your commitment to expanding your core competencies. Eligible candidates commit to 3 days initial training plus 2 years attendance at the Mentor Plus® Consulting Accountants' RoundTable. Once that requirement has been met candidates sit for an exam and must submit a number of case studies to demonstrate mastery of the subject matter.

You will find the practitioners who have reached out to achieve this designation are among the most visible in the profession as they are firm believers in the value of the skills they possess. They might even look and sound different from others in the profession due to their excitement in offering these unique services. The Mentor Plus® CSPM designation provides a structured approach to developing the people, service delivery, partnering, mentoring, and rainmaking skills of professionals.

A Mentor Plus® CSPM designee is a uniquely qualified professional who uses his/her knowledge of business performance fundamentals to improve the quality of information for decision makers and reporting bodies.  In addition to mastering a number of tools and methodologies, the designee is also trained in communicating concepts so that they are relevant to business managers. Accountants who seek this designation are driven to provide superior customer service and want to help their clients avoid and plan for potential difficulties, rather than just accurately report on them once they occur.

Summary

We recognize that the Mentor Plus® CSPM program is not right for everyone. In fact, based on typical emphasis of training in the accounting profession, fewer than 10% of firms have recognized the need and value of developing their staff’s “people” skills vs. technical skills as being equal to, or of greater importance, to the future growth and prosperity of the firm. Those firms that commit to the program can truly call themselves trusted advisors to the profession. Likewise, those firms that are in the process of leadership transition (as most are) will find the program provides an ideal platform for identifying, developing, and recognizing their next generation of leaders.
